Cha Cha Char - Dinner at Brisbane (28/May/2009)

The Brisbane team play host to me and Hugh at the popular dinner place near the river in Brisbane, QLD, Australia.

A short walking distance away from the hotel I was staying, Hilton Brisbane on the Elizabeth Street.

Party of 5, Hugh, me, Chris, Mike and Dick.

Cha-Cha-Char is a famous steak restaurant in Brisbane, and according to Chris, it will be torn down to make way for the new river side complex in the future. So, the next time I go Brisbane, it may not be there anymore.

Chris ordered wines for the dinner. Penfold Bin 389, a baby Grange. It was excellent, perfect for the dinner. We had the 2006 vintage, a little early to open it, but still very good. 2010 will be better.

I ordered a soup of the day, which was cream pumpkin soup. And for the main course, I order the following, copied from the online menu from the restaurant.

Scotch Fillet Age 24 –30 mths old Grass Fed Size 200 grams $33.50
A leaner rib cut with more robust flavour due to grass feeding
Served with baked organic egg, crispy bacon & onion marmalade

We finished the meal with a cheese plate as dessert, with cheddar, brie, gorgonzola and goat cheese. Served with bread and cookies.

The evening was excellent, with good wine, good food and good conversation.

Brisbane team is the best.
